Wisconsin law enforcement put into place a thorough system of forms and checkpoints to make sure that protection order respondents are, when mandated, relieved of their firearms. Having such an organized system helps make sure that everything goes right--and when it doesn't, the process of finding cracks in the system is made much simpler.

To explain how the system used in Wisconsin's courts works, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and Firearms produced a short video explaining each form and where it lies in the protection order and firearms removal process.
